Phnom Penh Welcomes Thousands for Cambodia’s Gumball 3000

PHNOM PENH: The Gumball 3000, famous for blending high-end vehicles with celebrity appearances and live entertainment, lived up to its reputation.

As the rally heads next to Siem Reap, where more excitement is expected, the Gumball 3000 in Phnom Penh will be remembered as a huge success, demonstrating Cambodia’s growing potential as a host for international events.

EAC News had the exclusive opportunity to speak with Maximillion Cooper, the founder of Gumball 3000, during the event at Wat Botum Park in Phnom Penh. Cooper shared his thoughts on the event, expressing excitement about the crowd's energy and the overall experience in Cambodia.

When asked about the atmosphere in Phnom Penh, Cooper praised the reception, describing it as "fantastic" and noting that the day's events had been amazing. He also spoke about his upcoming trip to Siem Reap, where the rally participants were set to visit Angkor Wat and Bayon Temple, expressing excitement for the event at these iconic Cambodian landmarks.

Reflecting on the Gumball 3000 experience in Cambodia, Cooper revealed that this was not his first visit and that he has grown fonder of the country each time he returns. He also highlighted the incredible support from Prime Minister Hun Manet, the Ministry of Tourism, and local partners, all of whom embraced the event and its significance. Cooper emphasized that the Gumball 3000 rally, which brings together people from around the world, is not just about cars but about uniting cultures, influencers, and celebrities. He hopes the event brings something new and enjoyable to Cambodia.

CJ, one of the DJs touring with Gumball 3000, was also enthusiastic about the Cambodian crowd. Describing the atmosphere as "insane," CJ said that the energy was even better than expected and that the warmth and hospitality of the Cambodian people made him feel right at home. He was also looking forward to the next stop in Siem Reap, especially the visit to Angkor Wat, which he believed would be a magical experience.

Among the many spectators at the event was Kong Phourei, who expressed his excitement about attending the Gumball 3000 rally. He was particularly thrilled by the sight of luxury and supercars, something he never imagined seeing in Cambodia. Phourei also shared that he was eagerly hoping to see Ishowspeed, one of his favorite internet personalities.

Thousands of people packed Wat Botum Park and the surrounding streets to witness the iconic luxury cars and take part in the excitement of the rally, making its first-ever stop in Cambodia. The crowd enjoyed electrifying performances by both local and international artists, with DJs spinning energetic sets that had everyone on their feet. The atmosphere was one of celebration, with dancing and music transforming the event into a spectacular fusion of motors, music, and culture. Gumball 3000's debut in Cambodia was a resounding success, leaving a lasting impression on both participants and spectators alike.
